A dream started
“Avante, a cross-cultural evangelical mission based in Brazil, was our sending mission. We stayed with them for over 10 years. Avante’s objective was to establish a native mission, as they had done with Avance, founded in Uruguay around the same time, following the same model as MEVIC. Oswaldo Prado was one of the directors. That’s how we came to this task. Over time, we began to mobilize young (at the time) Portuguese leaders like Paulo Pascoal and Samuel Paulo, and we also invited missionaries who shared the same vision: Roberto Fife, João Carpenter, and ourselves.”

“God brought together Luiz Carlos Castro, Samuel Santos, Roberto Pfeiffer, John Carpenter, and myself (Paulo Pascoal) to found an interdenominational missionary agency in November 1998, whose name is MEVIC. At that time, it was the Avante mission in Brazil, in partnership with World Partners of Canada, that inspired us to do so. They are the parent organizations of MEVIC.”

Past & Present
MEVIC was born in 1998 with an audacious dream: to see the Portuguese-speaking Church become a powerful missionary force.
This dream not only survived the test of time; it came to life and grew, transforming into a vibrant family, composed of many missionaries and countless projects, all united by the mission of advancing the Kingdom of God.
The past, full of achievements and challenges, has given way to the present, and it is in the present that we find the inspiration to build the future.
Looking to the Future
We look to the future with hearts full of hope and determination. What awaits us? The answer is clear:
MEVIC will continue to be a meeting point for Christians, churches, and organizations, uniting forces in a single purpose: to witness together, spreading the light of the gospel.
We dream of a missionary movement without borders, reaching the most distant places and the most needy hearts, illuminating even the darkest corners of the Portuguese-speaking world, and spreading to the four corners of the globe.
MEVIC will be an incubator of leaders, where new mobilizers will be trained and challenged to inspire others to join the mission of expanding the Kingdom of God with courage and passion.
Together, with faith and boldness, we will write a new chapter. The future is promising and, with God’s grace, MEVIC will continue to be a beacon of hope, inspiration, and transformation.
A team that sees the Portuguese-speaking Church as a missionary force and is dedicated to serving it in fulfilling the Great Commission.
